Would you love me if.. is a cultural capture of how the population of Japan uses dating apps and abides by the cultural fear of being judged by appearance. People looking for love on dating apps use photos other than themself to avoid judgement on the way they look. This book is a collection of the interesting, political, and cute photos people use to represent themself.
There was a point where Wipawe made a facial recognition application to view tinder on a phone, and to recognize if there was a face or not displayed. If there wasn’t a face, the raspberry pi would capture and save the photo. This ultimately wasn’t used because of the sensitivity to the camera recognizing faces. Often it would see a face of a plushy or character and think it was a human.
